Helena Belío-Apaolaza is a Lecturer in Spanish. She teaches from introductory to intermediate levels and prior to joining Global Languages taught Spanish at Brown University, Boston College, and Simmons University.

Belío-Apaolaza has published her work on non-verbal communication and the use of gesture in journals including “MarcoELE, Revista de Didáctica Español Lengua Extranjera” [MarcoELE, Journal of Didactics of Spanish as a Foreign Language] (2021), among others.

In addition to her current pedagogical focus on nonverbal communication in Hispanic cultures, Belío-Apaolaza’s interests include psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and intercultural studies as applied in language learning.
