Man Zhang received her B.A. degree in Chinese language and literature from Jilin University in China and a M.A. degree in Chinese Linguistics from University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is now a Ph.D Candidate in Chinese Linguistics at University of Washington. Prior to coming to MIT, she taught Chinese language courses and Chinese linguistics courses in University of Washington, Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern University and Middlebury College Summer language school.

Her research interests are Historical Linguistics, Phonology, Writing System, Sino-xenic linguistics.
