Katherine Huang’s video explores how Chinese fonts are created, and contemplates parallels between principles of Chinese calligraphy and type design

Katherine Huang created this video as a project for 21G.111 Chinese Calligraphy.

Kang Zhou, who teaches the class, explained, “We hope that students can express their understanding of Chinese calligraphy, history, and culture through the creation of videos. We encourage students to explore and discover the various forms of integration between traditional Chinese arts and technology, stimulating students to apply what they have learned in science class to calligraphy.”

Katherine Huang is in MIT class of 2023, and is a Computer Science and Engineering major.
