The German Studies Excellence Award at MIT, sponsored by Global Studies and Languages (GSL), was started in 1996 to honor students each academic year who exhibit unusually strong skills and effort in the study of German language and culture in courses at MIT. The awards are decided by a jury of faculty from the German program. Awards will include two first prizes on each of two levels of study, beginning and advanced, as well as numerous other prizes at both levels.
To apply for the German Studies Excellence Award, students in MIT classes in AY 2015 may submit a piece of written work demonstrating original and creative excellence in German Studies to their German instructor. The writing sample should be a short essay or writing assignment that was completed for a German course in either the Fall, IAP, or Spring semesters. All entries must be submitted by email to the student’s instructor by 5:00 pm on Monday, April 6, 2015.
All participants are required to attend the Award Ceremony on Tuesday, April 14, 5:00 pm, in room 4-249.
Please contact your instructor with any questions.
