Please join us for a special talk titled “Visualizing Arabic: The Importance of Inscriptions in Islamic Architecture” by Dr. Nassar Rabbat on November 20th at 4:00 PM in the Bush Room (10-105) at MIT.

Dr. Rabbat, Professor and Director of the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture, will discuss the evolution of Arabic as a medium of artistic expression in Islamic art and architecture. His presentation will highlight the role of Arabic in calligraphy, monumental inscriptions, and its recent use in abstract art over the past fourteen centuries.
