Hee-Jeong Jeong is a Senior Lecturer in Korean. She developed and leads the Korean language curriculum at MIT, teaching at all levels. Before joining MIT, she taught at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Harvard University, and Rice University. Jeong is actively involved in Korean language proficiency assessment, as an ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) tester and rater, and apprentice trainer among other certifications.
Jeong is the co-editor of Essentials of Korean Culture (2014) and co-author of Integrated Korean: High Intermediate Korean 1 and 2 (2019), and Integrated Korean: Advanced Korean 1 and 2 (2021). She presents regularly on blended learning topics at Korean language and foreign language pedagogical meetings.
Jeong’s pedagogical and research interests are in the areas of grammaticalization, language pedagogy and pedagogical technologies, and proficiency assessment.
