The 5th Conference on Teaching, Promoting and Maintaining Portuguese as a Heritage Language (CPLH) was held from May 31 to June 2 at MIT. The event brought together over 60 participants from Portugal, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and several parts of the USA. Researchers, teachers and institutions from Brazil and Portugal discussed questions such as what distinguishes heritage speakers, how can they be identified, how can they be integrated into a mixed classroom, or what methodology and practices should be used in these classes. This was the first time this conference was held in Massachusetts.
