Nilma Dominique reports from São Paulo!
A new subject taught over IAP by Nilma Dominique gave students the opportunity to participate in Portuguese 21G.S07 (Special Subject): Language conversation and Brazilian Culture – presented through MISTI MIT-Brazil / Global Classrooms.
In addition to language class, students have explored the area; for example a field trip to the Brazilian History Museum Ipiranga Museum (photo above) and the the Instituto Paraisópolis (below) located at the second largest community (favela) in the community of the same name. They learned some basic samba moves with the tambourine. This institute serves as a vital social center, focusing on providing training in music, education, technology, and arts within an overlooked and marginalized environment.
