Class year: 2026
Majors: Climate System Science and Engineering (Course 1-12) and Spanish (Course 21G)
My name is Katie Kempff, and I am an incoming junior in courses 1-12 (Climate System Science and Engineering) and 21G (Spanish) from Chicago, IL. In my time at MIT, I have participated in research and coursework in the climate space, and I hope to eventually work in the field of climate tech. My Spanish courses at MIT have been a highlight of my college experience thus far – the opportunity to connect on a deeper level with other cultures and force myself out of my comfort zone in conversations is important to me. This past summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Spain, and had an amazing time immersing myself in Spanish culture and using the skills I have learned in my time in the Global Languages department. Outside of academics, I am a member of the varsity track and field team at MIT, along with Alpha Phi sorority and MITEC.
