Takako Aikawa Fluid Language Pedagogy (FlaP)
Abstract: In this talk, I introduce a new approach to language pedagogy called “Fluid Language Pedagogy” (FlaP), which leverages the power of generative AI as a co-teaching assistant.  FlaP provides a transformative shift in language instruction, moving beyond traditional methods to create dynamic, AI-integrated learning experiences.  I will begin with a high-level overview of FlaP, highlighting its innovative design and the benefits it offers to both learners and educators.  Following this, I will outline my plans for integrating FlaP into the existing Japanese language curriculum, demonstrating its potential to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.

Javier Barroso and David Yagüe González “Spanish I Digital Yearbook Project
Abstract: This semester, Spanish I students will engage in a CLTL-funded digital yearbook project that integrates project-based language learning and digital literacy. Through structured, collaborative modules, students will create video presentations in Spanish, introducing themselves, describing their learning environments, and sharing personal interests in an engaging, multimodal format. Guided by assessment rubrics and an evaluative survey, this initiative aims to enhance motivation, autonomy, and authentic language use while fostering essential digital competencies for the creation and interpretation of multimedia texts.

Masami Ikeda and Wakana Maekawa “Integrating In-Person and Asynchronous Learning: A New Hybrid Model for Japanese I-IV
Abstract: We will present an overview of the newly developed hybrid courses for Japanese I-IV, which integrate three in-person sessions and one asynchronous session per week. Featuring cross-level collaboration, our new hybrid course model was launched in the fall 2024 with Japanese I and III. This presentation will explore pedagogical strategies and assess effectiveness through learning outcomes, student surveys, and challenges encountered.
