La Yuma is a Nicaraguan film that challenges gender norms and celebrates Latinx resilience through the story of a young woman who defies poverty, machismo, and societal expectations to pursue her dream of becoming a boxer. It portrays strong female and LGBTQ+ characters. It offers a compelling message of empowerment, dignity, and hope.
