Silent Voices: The Invisibility and Inaudibility of African Languages in Intellectual and Professional Discourses.

Global Languages is proud to celebrate the official launch of MIT’s Swahili Studies Initiative. To mark this occasion, Professor John Mugane (Harvard), author of “The Story of Swahili” (Ohio University Press, 2015), will deliver a talk entitled “Silent Voices: The Invisibility and Inaudibility of African Languages in Intellectual and Professional Discourses.” The event will take place on November 7, 2024, from 5pm-7pm, in the Nexus at MIT’s Hayden Library. At the event, Global Languages will also share more information about MIT’s upcoming Swahili program during IAP this winter.
