The German Studies Excellence Award at MIT, sponsored by Global Languages and MIT-Germany/MISTI, was started in 1997 to honor students of German in each academic year who exhibit unusually strong skills and effort in the study of German language and cultures in classes at MIT.
Senior Lecturer in German, Dagmar Jaeger, explains, “This award celebrates a long history of MIT students’ enthusiasm for studying German language and culture to become global citizens pursuing possibilities that open up in fields such as science and engineering here and abroad.”
Students in MIT German classes are invited to submit work demonstrating original and creative excellence in German Studies by submitting a piece of work such as a short essay, poetry, or writing assignment that was completed for a German class this academic year. Entries must be made by April 19, 2024, to be considered.
The First Prize is a round trip flight to Germany. Second and Third place prizes also awarded.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Tuesday, April 30, at 5pm in 4-249.
