Piper Sigrest in Perm, Russia, over IAP

During the January 2018 term, senior in Course 16, Piper Sigrest is travelling to Perm, Russia, for three weeks through the MIT International Science and Technology Initiative’s Global Teaching Lab (GTL) program! She is teaching high school students there during IAP and working on an independent study pertinent to the history and culture of the region. Piper tells us that she is, “so excited to spend time in Russia interacting with students and exploring the culture and history of Russia.”

Piper’s interest was piqued when she visited a Russian class at MIT during Campus Preview Weekend (CPW) in April 2014. She has been taking Russian since the fall semester of her freshman year. She is completing her minor field program in Russian and Eurasian Studies.

To document her experiences,  she is writing a daily blog. Take a moment to explore and share in Piper’s Siberian adventures.
