Haohsiang Liao is Senior Lecturer in Chinese. He has taught at all level of the Chinese curriculum and frequently leads instruction in Tier I subjects of the Regular curriculum track. He is on the executive team of MandarinX MOOC courses on edX and on its academic panel for Chinese language. Prior to joining MIT, he taught Chinese at Williams College and Harvard University.
Liao has co-authored several Chinese language textbooks for learners across various levels and is the author of Easy Mandarin Chinese (2016). He also contributed to the Encyclopedia of Chinese Language and Linguistics (2015) published by Brill with his entry, “Chinese Language Pedagogy at the University Level in the United States.”
Haohsiang Liao’s research foci include Chinese language pedagogy, cross-cultural communication, and teacher training.
