Larysa Smirnova is a part-time lecturer in French, teaching at introductory as well as intermediate levels of the curriculum. Prior to joining MIT in 2019, she taught French language, literature, and French & Francophone film at Boston College, Yale, and Tufts University.
Smirnova holds her Ph.D. in French from Yale University. Her academic interests include French prose fiction, 20th-century French & Francophone cinema, literary theory, semiology and linguistic. She has published articles on French and world cinema, as well as 19th-century French literature.
