Douglas Morgenstern, Senior Lecturer Emeritus in Spanish, was an early pioneer of online education and educational exchanges at MIT. He has also taught first-year Spanish as an online class at the Harvard Extension School since 2014. Morgenstern shared his experiences and insights at the Global Languages Colloquium on February 26, 2020, which was dedicated to the topic of online teaching.

With the shift of all instruction online in response to the COVID-19 crisis, it is a good time to reflect back on the history of experimentation with Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) projects at MIT, which Morgenstern does in this interview.
